At Winsley Primary School we follow the National Curriculum as published here:

Intent
At Winsley CofE Primary School we aim to deliver our innovative curriculum in the most memorable, exciting and effective way possible where high standards are always sought and attention is always given to motivating children to be lifelong learners.
We have carefully considered the needs of the children in our community so that we can correctly support them to be confident, independent and successful learners ready for the next stage in their education as responsible citizens.
We aim to teach and develop our children’s skills and knowledge across the curriculum and enhance their enjoyment through offering a range of theme days, enrichment opportunities, visits and visitors throughout the year.
Implementation
We maintain a sharp focus on the core subjects of English and Maths whilst ensuring our children benefit from our engaging and carefully chosen schemes of work across the subjects. Where possible, links are made to deepen children’s understanding whilst maintaining the integrity of the curriculum.
There is a wealth of information regarding our whole school curriculum on the subject specific pages (currently under development – September 2022). Our class curriculum webs provide a deeper insight into how we work creatively to link the core and foundation subjects to enhance, deepen and excite learning.
Impact
Our rich and comprehensive curriculum, tailored to our diverse community, ensures our children have the skills and qualities to meet the demands of the next phase of their education and that they are confident and inquisitive learners able to develop a deep understanding of the world around them.
KS1
English, Maths, Science and RSE are taught to each year group specifically within our mixed age classes.
Across Key Stage One we follow a two year rolling programme of study for: History, Geography, Art, DT, RE, Music, Computing, PSHE and PE. We have a clear progression of skills for each year group to ensure children are supported and challenged accordingly.
KS2
English, Maths, Science, Computing and PSHE (including RSE) skills are taught to each year group within our mixed age classes .
Across Key Stage Two we follow a four year rolling programme of study for History, Geography, Art, DT, RE, Music, MFL and PE. We have a clear progression of skills for each year group to ensure children are supported and challenged accordingly.
Phonics
From September 2022 we use the Little Wandle approach to teach phonics.
Training videos to help parents and families can be found here.
Or teaching is based on the National Curriculum; which we have mapped out below showing how we intend to cover all the areas. Due to mixed age groups we have a 2 year curriculum cycle in Key Stage 1 and a 4 year cycle in Key Stage 2.
